Marcos turns 8!

Dear Marcos

Today you turned 8 years old. I brought the "Book of Marcos," to your classroom and tried to tell the story of the little Guatemalan baby that came home to his family in St John. You were too embarrassed for me to tell the whole story, and I started to cry happy tear. We tried a piƱata, but the string broke, so you just beat it to pieces on the ground. I think we alarmed your teacher, but the kids sure seemed to like it.

After school I took you for a big surprise. You picked a new black kitten and named him Chip, no wait, Ace, no wait . . . You asked me four times, "is he really mine?" You held him all the way home on your lap and made a bed for him in your room.

Tonight Eliza made you a blue cake with eight candles. We sang you happy birthday and you opened your present. It was a ticket to legoland! Your special 8 year old trip is a visit to Legoland with Max in January. You were pretty excited, and so is Max.

Marcos, Daddy and I love you so much. You are the family peacemaker. You make us all laugh when you laugh. We like to watch you wrestle with the big boys. We like to watch you be kind to friends at school. We like to listen to the silly stories you tell us are"totally true!" It isn't easy to be the youngest in a big family, but you do your job well. You are our family glue and we have been thankful every day for you.

Love, Mom
