cousin sleepover

picking raspeberries at the cousin sleepover

Some of my happiest childhood memories were sleepovers with my cousins. It was the perfect mix of freedom, mischief and security. I have discovered that those same wonderful feelings happen as the grown up hosting a cousins sleepover. It has been a fest of swimming, ice cream, jumping castle and video games. My nephews clearly have the best parents because they have been stellar--no behavior problems whatsoever. Of course, no Rippy family gathering would be complete with some barfing and poor Corbin took the brunt of that for us. I snuggled him in my bed and after a nap he was good to go with the glowing report, "My stomach is all done being sick!"

Lane and Marcos have been peas in a pod and spent the afternoon holding each other's heads under the water at the pool. Kimball also kept us in stitches. My friend at the pool reported that Kimball asked if she was pregnant and when she replied in the affirmative he said, "well, good luck with that." Last night Max, Corbin and Kimball were all snuggled in Max's bed with their scriptures. I was totally impressed until I overheard Corbin exclaim, "I found the scriptures in Ether--see, only one line long!"

In the midst of all the cousin fun the wood floor construction project has begun. It is going to beautiful, but it does mean a little chaos for a few weeks. It will only make the orderliness of back to school more delicious.
