Dear Wilson

Dear Wilson,

You are making great efforts the last few months to sever family bonds. You have become unavailable physically by not responding to phone calls, texts or even visits. You have detached emotionally by withholding any information about your well being or daily life. You are attempting to cut ties by making choices you know disappoint your parents and reject everything they value.

But I have bad news, son. It won't work. There is nothing, absolutely nothing, you can do that would make Dad and I stop loving you. The power that binds our family on this Earth and for eternity is God's priesthood and cannot be broken. You are ours and we love you, and there is nothing you can do to break that seal. It hurts very much to have you separate from us, but our peace and joy come from the knowledge of the gospel of Jesus Christ which assures us that this ends well. So, I'll wait and try to follow every spiritual prompting to demonstrate that I love you and I love The Savior.

Love, Mom

44

I have had the most wonderful weekend celebrating being another year older. Tony and I got up early on Thursday for a trail run, breakfast and a temple session. My favorite things all in a morning! On Friday several friends and I went canoeing and to lunch. The day was absolutely beautiful. Even when Becky and Valerie ended up in the water, their positive attitudes stayed afloat! This weekend was General Conference where 3 new apostles were called. The themes appeared to be: keeping the Sabbath Day Holy and following the Spirit. It seemed that every speaker had a challenge and I think I will start by identifying those invitations. Pres Monson is almost worn out in his service. I am thankful for the chance to live in both perilous, and the fullness of times.
