freedom fun

Our good friends the Workmans moved to Utah this year ending our annual tradition of camping at Boyer Park for the fourth of July.  We miss them.  Instead, we spent Independence day at Lake Cdlane with the Hainsworths and Hughes.  The weather and lake temperature were the best I ever remember, even for 6:30 am skies.  We skied and wakeboarded and wake-skated and surfed and tubed and kayaked and swam.  The kids watched hundreds of 1980 VHS movies and played millions of card games.  We had some deep,  open, gospel discussions about same-sex marriage and modesty and gained valuable insight about shaming from our teenagers.  We ate like Kings, thanks to the Traeger grill which makes homemade pizza, steaks, chicken, baked potatoes and berry cobbler more magical.  Cooper had to work and decided he would not come because he got a frustrated with his parent's rules.  Tony got very worried about him and went home for a day.  We were sorry to miss both of them and Friday was a happy reunion when they returned.  We missed our favorite Endicott fireworks show but loved watching the fireworks over the water from the boats.   My favorite moment was standing in the kitchen spooning up homemade berry cobbler singing "Proud to be an American" at the top of our lungs with all the Lughesworths  (Tony just cried.)  At the end of the week we realized that 50 people had come to enjoy the Hainsworth cabin.  For me it is a symbol of the incredibly generous spirit of the whole Hainsworth family.  We were so grateful to be the benefactors and friends  It may take us a while to recover from the sun and fun, but it was an amazing memory making Fourth of July
