cousin ski camp

The third annual Cousin Ski Camp rocked! It is amazing how much fun you can have when everyone is NOT throwing up. The weather gave us a scare, but turned out to be perfect. The kids were amazing, great attitudes, willing to try new things, no contention. The established traditions were as fun as always: dock frisbee, swimming across the river, lots of red licorice. We added some new traditions this year: Cameron's ski course, face paint, Stacey's Monday night family birthday party, the newlywed game by the fire. It seemed like we had a good balance this year of serious talk, laughing our heads off and spiritual things. The only thing that could have made it better was to have Mom and Dad there. Mom sent the kids all a jade good luck charm of their Chinese Zodiak year. The kids were so excited, I think Mom would have been pleased to see their reactions. They were really missed. I hope this is a tradition that continues for a very, very long time.

This year, in the face of extreme opposition, we held our first annual extended cousin day at the lake. it was held at Porcupine Bay (way more crowded now than when we were little) and was kind of poorly attended. The point however, was that it was held, and the tradition has now been established. I really do enjoy seeing my cousins and their kids.
