Harlow has had her first official weekend with Grandma and Grandpa and it was packed with family and fun. We arrived Saturday for the big kickoff tailgate party at Jeff and Betsys. Lots of pickleball, spikeball and food! Harlow loved all the attention, freedom and mostly the stairs. She must have gone up and down 100 times. Harlow and I snuggled up at home while everyone went to the game Saturday. After church on Sunday we went to Debbie and Rands. We spent a very nice afternoon with them, especially enjoying the fruits of their garden to break the fast. Max came over to do his laundry and spent the evening playing games and having homemade ice cream. Monday morning we went over to Tyler and Chelseas to play pickleball in a beautiful summer rain and have lunch with them. We were on the road by naptime and Harlow was a great traveler. It was cute to see her so excited to see her mama! Lots of healthy attachment there.
Sam drove Eliza's former car home because Eliza is now a proud car owner! Thanks to Cooper she got a deal and now works a second job to make the payments! Eliza did a whole bunch of adulting this week when she lost her keys, bought a car, drove it home from Pullman and started a second job. So proud of her efforts.
Max is also ready to start a new job this week. It's been a long search, so he's hoping this all works out. Max did some yard work for Jeff and Betsy and they were super impressed with his work ethic. It was a nice thing for a parent to hear, especially as we continue to see Max mature and change.
Coop spent a fun weekend in Boise with Jackie and Fahd. He went to the pride parade, raced his fancy Camero (which los a fuel pump!) and was well fed. Coop received a big blessing when a foreign exchange student came to his dealership needing to unload a Subaru with 100,000 miles. Because of his status, and hard work, he was able to buy the car for next to nothing and will have a car to get up to the ski hill this winter!
We also have the blessing of having Carlos staying with us. Carlos is a recent aviation grad and is here instructing in St George to get his flight hours. He is from Ensenada Mexico and grew up in an orphanage there. Carlos is truly one of a kind. He has brilliant English, is polite and respectful, and is grateful. Most importantly, he is willing to speak Spanish to me! I heard a podcast recently that suggested that addressing poverty is the best way to defend the family. I believe that. I need to find more ways to address poverty. Maybe we will continue to host someone in our home.
I love my job, and I'm working hard. Tony is working hard. We are being given strength and resources more than we deserve. The weather is almost bearable. Our parents our doing well. Heavenly Father is in the details of our lives and does not want us to get burdened with small things. With so much hard in the world, we have a great deal to be grateful for.
