Happy Sweet 16 Eliza
Our beautiful girl is 16! She is an amazing mix of confidence and shyness, lazy teenager and drive and tomboy and princess. Right before her birthday, she chopped of 16 inches of blond hair and dyed it brown. Way to be confident sis!
New Feet
I think one of the bravest things I've done is to have not one, but two foot surgeries in the last two months. It was brave because I'm a pain weinie, I hate being still, and I hate spending money. The surgeries force me to slow down and let a lot of things go. I console myself with foot pride-I'm going to have beautiful feet and I won't have to always wear sensible shoes! Plus, I've had almost weekly visits with Dreamy Doctor Nunez and his beautiful Columbiano accent. I have discovered all kind of hurt foot workouts. It has given me much greater empathy, especially for Mom 😟 People have been very nice to me and I feel so grateful to have a body that heals.
Happy Birthday Coop
Tony and Eliza spent a nice weekend in La Grande to celebrate Coop's birthday. They saw a movie and spend a fun day at the skinny hill. This has been a significant year for Coop. He had a life altering accident, started college, flunked a couple of classes, started and quit track, broke up with his girlfriend, left Mormonism, and reunited with his birth Mom. Most significantly he has done some important relationship repairing and introspection.
Dear Coop,
Happy birthday son. You are a good man and you have brought Dad and I unspeakable joy. As you continue to mature your natural empathy and gift of compassion become more evident. It is always a pleasure to have you come home for a weekend, because you make time for each member of the family. It was really sweet of you to bring us all EOU attire, since we know your love language is gifts. You have made some whopper mistakes, but more importantly, you are learning from your mistakes and trying again. We love you with all our hearts and can't wait to see what life has in store for you.
