Jeff and Stacey hosted the family fall festival this year in Moses Lake. We made cider, fried elephant ears and apple fries and shot apples in a sling shot. We also got to tour the giant potato barns where they keep the potatoes until they are made into Chinese French Fries. Everyone had a good time. Except Eliza. She just wanted to get home to get to the Stake Dance.

Max's trip to Utah
Tony, Max and I have had a whirlwind trip to Utah. We flew in Thursday night late and the fun started early on Friday. Tony, Max and John went to Sundance to mountain bike the trails. I got to indulge in a run with Betsy and a chance to attend class on campus with her. It brought a flood of happy memories and more than a little envy for Betsys current student status. That night we went to the BYU game, an exciting one-point-win event. Max ran to the field after the game to meet Jamal Williams, a BYU football hero.
It was a late night, but we were up early and headed tonSalt Lake City. We are sitting in the conference center listening to the words of a living prophet. I feel really grateful to be sitting here. I feel more grateful for the assurance that God lives and that I am His child. He has a plan for me to be in a family to learn to become like Him and includes the safety net of the atonement of Christ. His power is on the earth and I have access to it as I make and keep covenants and sincerely pray in faith.
Here are some of the revelations from Conference:
To be converted is to be filled with the love of the Savior.
My best Christian and missionary service happens in the home with my kids. The most important work is through the Holy Ghost.
For wayward kids I pray to know what I can do, not to change their behavior. This acknowledges principles of choice and agency.
Finish this sentence: Because Joseph was a prophet. . .
When was the last time you felt connection with Heaven
What is the answer to: "Am I good enough? Am I going to make it?"
How can I be ambitious for Christ?
People learn when they are ready to learn, not when we are ready to teach them.
The Book of Mormon is the best tool of conversion. How am I using it in my family missionary work?
I'm grateful to have had this experience with Max. I hope he felt our love for him, our love for the prophet, and our love for the Savior.
